Liver, we have a problem!
Next batch is on the go; got the idea from a 'friend' who said two cans of stout will make a great smooth drink. So:
2 x Munton's stout
100g sugar
1 x licorice stick
Let it cool from 24oC to 21oC overnight (in the beer box) and then added 4 litres more water and the 2 yeast packs. The problem is the reading on day 1 is:
1090
(The hydrometer registers this alongside dessert wine!!!)
We shall see where we end up :)
Right, we have a winner!
Great beer, just gets better and better. Smooth, quite silky, overtones of licorice. Delicious. Will be making this one again :)

Day 5: 1016 @ 19oC
ReplyDeleteDay 11: 1012 @ 16oC
ReplyDeleteTasted like coffee the other day, but that has turned to a more liquorice flavour. Very smooth too.
Day 12: Same reading so bottled and move to 'warmth'
ReplyDelete"Richard Goes Forth" would be a good title for the next installment
ReplyDeleteMoved to cold April 12th
